Hehe! As per our joking discussion before my show at Things Celtic on Saturday, two smart asses at the show posted reviews of performance on myspace. They're awesome! hehe!
Belegur | 13 Aug 2007 23:01 This weekend I had the displeasure of attending a CD release for Mark Gunn. This was almost the most least enjoyable time I have had since I nearly died. However, I must confess that this release was not a total failure for the tuning beforehand was the greatest tunning I have ever witnessed since I saw a man tune a Bradan by beating it against the ground repeatedly therefore destroying it. The tuning of his Auto Harp can only be described as if a God had come down and blessed the Harp by tuning it himself. Johan Sabastion Bach himself would have bowed down to the amazing tuning of this Auto Harp. This however, was not the highlight of the evening. What stole the spotlight, and I believe everyone there would agree, were the brownies. Yes the chocolate brownies that were perfectly place and perfectly made. The center soft and gooey , yet firm on the outside. Yes truly these brownies where better than anything at the CD release. However instead of boring you with the rest of the details of the truly awful concert I have comprised a list from the greatest to worst parts of the release. 1 The Brownies 2 The Tuning 3 The Forgetting of Lyrics 4 The End 5 The Music 6 The Pleasant Peasant 7 Marks Side Burns
It is my opinion that if you never go to a Brobdingnagian Concert, you will die a very unhappy person
Nick | Seosamh na Feadógóir | 13 Aug 2007 22:55 AUSTIN (Reuters) - Traditianal folk tuner Marc Gunn treated fifteen listeners to an exclusive tuning session at specialty store Things Celtic this weekend. Gunn exhibited his almost Ninja-like ability to arrange the progressively in-tune tones of this autoharp strings in a manner that keeps his listeners in suspense, perched on the edge of their folding metal seats, tantalized by the expectation of actually hearing Marc reach a tone that his tuning device, of which the origin is yet unknown to those outside the autoharp-tuner’s circle, deems officially, according to itself, in tune. Marc does not simply pluck the F string two or three times before the tweakings of the pegs render a tuned string. No. He ascends (or descends) through seventeen subtly unique tones (on average), until, by a glance at his tuner, and with his listener’s wide-eyed awe, he masterfully moves on to the next peg. Reportedly, Marc actually played music afterwards, but reports vary. |
