Fond Memories and Dreams of Future

ALEP really got my mind cranking. It was, in my mind, a perfect weekend. I don't use that term much, but it felt perfect. Joy and pleasure all wrapped up into a few wonderful days of bliss.
Since then, I got home and started working on my Celtic Invasion of Italy. I already have six people signed up for the trip, and haven't even gotten a forms from five people who have originally asked to be part of the trip. Thus, it is pretty much sold out. Wow! What a thought! I am thinking I might expand the number of attendees a little bit. But I can't do a lot, else transportation becomes a total nightmare. But the trip looks amazing.
So now, I'm prematurely thinking of future trips. Scotland and Prince Edward Island (yay! Anne of Green Gables fans!) are both on my mind as places I would really love to do next year if this first trip's organization doesn't turn into a total nightmare. In 2010, I was thinking of France, taking mules into the Grand Canyon and maybe even New Zealand. Plus, beaches in Florida, Australia, Yellowstone, Ludvig's castles, Sweden, Norway, ahhhh the possibilities are endless. And that doesn't even touch the Far East.
(If you have thoughts or suggestions please post them!)
I just love traveling. And it's so exciting to see the many opportunities opened by doing these trips.
The break from ALEP also brought about a bit of reality to me, that moving might not offer that fulfillment that I'm hoping it will. I am moving ultimately because I want to find a community to call home (among many other reasons). That's one of the exciting things about the Celtic Invasions, the possibility of creating my own community, for short-periods of time, around the world.
Ultimately, I am looking for a place to settle down though. So my cats don't need to be on the road. And a good community to call my own, even while I'm gallivanting around the globe. A place much like The Shire that I experienced at ALEP would be lovely. It was happiness and those fond memories will stay with me a lifetime.

Yellowstone is magnificent; it's a fantastic place to visit. I think Carlsbad Caverns would be fantastic, or Sequoia and the Oregon/Washington coast in general. And if you like beaches, don't forget the Outer Banks in NC. Some of it's park service beach-- no hotels or docks or whatever, just primitive beach, but with hotels and shopping and amusement parks within reach. And beautiful lighthouses to see. Plus maybe one day I'll drag you white-water rafting, hee hee. :-) I used to be pretty good in a canoe.
Alaska is a thought as well-- the scenery is insanely beautiful up there, plus you can go whale-watching, etc. And there are lots of beautiful places in Canada. Or have you thought about climbing Macchu Picchu, or one of the South American volcanoes? And the Carribbean-- drinking a little rum and listening to steel drums on the oceanfront, dancing half the night.... then there's the idea of Hawaii.....
I could go on listing ideas for hours. :-)

ooo! yeah, South America would be awesome yeah. and the Carribbean. missed all that. thanks for the reminder.
Any community that is worth being a part of is hard work. You will not be able to move and "find" that perfect community. Yes, there are some places where your perfect community is better seeded than others, for instance, Austin's burner community is more conducive to becoming the kind of community I want than many others that I have even enjoyed being a part of.
I'd love to get more involved in the Celtic/Faire crowd (can't say for sure it's a community from some of the behaviour I've heard about) here in Austin, but it's going to take more time for me to spread out further. We feel pretty taxed as it is. :)
Well, I love the idea of travelling, but here speaks a person that is been living in the same neighborhood all her life and never been further abroad than neighboring countries. My idea on communities: people will always come and go. If I look at my neighoborhood when I was a kid and look at it now, I hardly recognize it. The truth is we had a lot of immigrants here in Antwerp the last 20 years and maybe that is why I don't travel that much. I just have to walk a couple of blocks to feel like I'm on the other side of the world. In my neighborhood you mainly have Moroccans, a couple of streets further you have the Turkish area. We also have Africans, Asians ... whatever. As far as I know you can find people with over 100 nationalities here.
But I prefer to hang out in the old part of the city with buildings that are hundreds of years old. It's there you have most Irish pubs, for exemple. And you're close to the harbor where you can watch the ships. I still have a feeling I haven't seen it all.
On the other hand: I sometimes do feel like I want to go elsewhere. Just no idea where as well.
In my mind, that's one of the cool things about europe. things are just that much closer.
Well, I have a friend who now is studying in the US and she is also considering on comming back. She says your country is nice to be as a tourist, but not to live. I still think it's a huge difference on being somewhere as a tourist or that you really live there. I'm not judging, since I never crossed the ocean, so I'll leave that in the middle.
The Celtic Invasion sounds awesome! Hope that all comes together nicely for you. :) I'm going through ALEP withdrawal! It's WAY too quiet around here. :(

Yeah. Me too! I tell ye, that really was easily the best time I've had in at least five years. Possibly more... Still conjuring memories
Yea, I haven't laughed like that in I don't know how long. I cried leaving KY! But then I had all these great CDs to listen to and to keep me awake. *wink* Oh, I hope they do this again in a couple years! Ren Faire will no longer be enough! :)
Seek & ye shall find it when it's meant to be.

I don't know if I was one of the five you mentioned or not, things have been kinda nutty round here lately, but I have sent a form and international money order by air express, but as I live at the arse end of nowhere, it can take up to 4 weeks to get stuff through the post between here and The States. If you get it and everything's already full, just post it on back, or leave me on the waiting list, yeah? Krystie

I've just sent it. marc at the bards dot net, yeah?
Well, this sucks, given it was my idea in the first place, but....I can't make the Italy trip. With the purchase of the new refrigerator (instead of using that money to pay off other stuff done to the house) I can't make it work money-wise. I'm beyond bummed, I was so excited about this I was imagining daily that I was already there. :-(
